What You Will Learn
At Waukegan Healthcare Training Center, our Illinois healthcare training programs are designed to provide students with practical skills, hands-on experience, and industry-recognized competencies. Each course prepares you to confidently perform essential healthcare duties in clinical and non-clinical settings.
Perform high-quality adult, child, and infant CPR
Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively
Recognize and respond to cardiac arrest, choking, and breathing emergencies
Apply basic life support (BLS) techniques according to current guidelines
Maintain composure and teamwork during emergency situations
This course prepares students for CPR certification required by employers across Illinois healthcare and allied health fields.
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection safely and accurately
Identify veins and select proper collection techniques
Follow infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA compliance standards
Label, handle, and transport specimens correctly
Communicate professionally with patients to reduce anxiety and ensure safety
Understand laboratory workflows and specimen processing procedures
Graduates are prepared for entry-level phlebotomy roles in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and diagnostic centers throughout Illinois.
Perform 12-lead EKG procedures
Properly place electrodes and operate EKG equipment
Prepare patients for cardiac testing with professionalism and care
Recognize basic heart rhythms and common abnormalities
Maintain and troubleshoot EKG machines
Document and report test results accurately
This training prepares students for EKG technician roles in cardiology offices, hospitals, and outpatient facilities.
